Number of smartphones in the world is expected to reach 1 billion by 2016, consultancy projects

Over the next four years, the world will have about a billion smartphones in use, according to data released by Forrester on Monday (13). In the case of the United States, the number of smartphones in 2016 should be around 257 million and 126 million in tablet, projection indicates.

In 2016, reports the Bits blog "New York Times, about 350 million workers worldwide will use smartphones (a phenomenon called" consumerization of IT "). Of this total, 200 million will bring their own equipment for the workplace.

With so many smartphones assets, consulting projects an "explosion" in the market for mobile applications. Consumers will spend in 2016 about $ 1.3 trillion with this software, the mobile application market will generate $ 56 billion in revenue.

According to "The Next Web," the Forrester report reveals that 90% of the smartphone market will be dominated by the platforms from Apple, Google and Microsoft. The number of points of particular wireless Internet may reach 648 million; public hotspots will jump to 1.3 million (current number) to 5.8 million (2016).
