Telefónica boosted by Vivo, earns R $ 4.36 billion in 2011

Telefonica Brazil announced on Thursday, 16/02, the balance for the year 2011, which includes the results obtained with fixed and also the mobile subsidiary Vivo.

The utility reported net income of $ 4.36 billion last year, representing an increase of 81% compared to the gain obtained in 2010 when the company reported profit of $ 2.39 billion. The performance primarily reflects the consolidation of Vivo's results, thus improving the operational side.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA, the acronym in English) totaled R $ 10.383 billion, 90% higher than in 2010. The Ebitda margin increased from 34.7% to 35.6% on the same basis of comparison. The net operating revenues of Telefónica grew 84% to R $ 29.12 billion last year.

In numbers, Telefonica has reached 86.9 million customers, with 71.6 million users of mobile and 15.3 million of telephony and fixed broadband and cable TV. And the purchase of Vivo continues to give excellent results.

So much so that there is an emphasis on the growth of the mobile customer base - which rose 18.7% YoY, with net additions of 11.3 million users, 4.5 million in the fourth quarter. In the mobile market, Telefónica has maintained its lead with 29.5% share, a position that is even greater in the more lucrative and larger perspective, as data transmission (43.4% "share") and mobile post -paid (36.6%).
