Cinterion M2M module in the manufacture of Minas Gerais Foxconn

Cinterion, a manufacturer of cellular M2M communication modules, controlled by Gemalto announced on Friday, 24/02, the hiring of Foxconn Minas Gerais for theoutsourced manufacturing of its product line. This represents an amendment to itsglobal agreement with Foxconn Technology.

The first product Cinterion manufactured in this unit is BGS2 the new module, which provides surface mount efficient in terms of cost and other advanced features, the module being more efficient energy consumption in the market. Its production will begin, at the latest, in July 2012.

"Cinterion remains dedicated to the emerging M2M market in Brazil and Latin America, where it will continue to invest in its operation, ensuring excellence incustomer service and technical expertise proven over a decade of leadership,"said Ramzi Abdine, General Manager, Cinterion Brazil. The amounts investedwere not disclosed.

Announcement confirms the information that will be a Foxconn plant in MinasGerais, anticipated by Eike Batista, last week. Today, Foxconn has plants for the production of equipment from Apple and HP Brazil, in Sao Paulo. And it would,according to sources, four units distributed in the country.

The production module M2M - considered high-yield market in the world of mobility - was also announced on the day the president of Foxconn Terry Gou said in a TV program in Taiwan that the expansion in Brazil is at a slow pace because the country is limited only to the local market.
