Anatel will put 4G proposal in bidding for public consultation

The Steering Committee of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) approved today (19) to carry out public consultation on the proposed bidding for the auction of 2.5 GHz bands, telephony fourth generation (4G). According to Anatel, the query for society to speak on the subject will last 30 days and bidding should take place until April 30.

The state capitals and cities with over 500,000 inhabitants, and also the Federal District must receive the technology until May 31, 2014, before the World Cup. The schedule for cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, which do not fit the categories above, provides for the arrival of the technology until December 2015 and those between 30,000 and 100,000 inhabitants, by the end of 2017.

According to the proposal rapporteur advisor, Rodrigo Zerboni, 4G technology may speed up to 10 times higher than the 3G, and goals for the coming into operation in the host cities should reduce the risk of network congestion, especially during the competitions, that will attract many tourists and journalists.

"We have concerns in providing faster access and, consequently, increasing the volume of investment, also impact on reducing the possibility of network congestion.
